What to Expect

Q:  What is a Service like?

A:  While we follow a traditional Lutheran pattern of worship with portions intoned and sung congregational responses, the service often blends different styles that speak to diverse backgrounds.  But no matter the style, the service always emphasizes praising God, understanding scripture and what it means to follow the way of Christ.

Q:  What is the music like?

A:  The music ranges from traditional to gospel and praise.  Hymns come from a variety of traditions such as Lutheran, Baptist, Methodist, African-American, Caribbean, and African National.  Contemporary hymns are also sung.

We have a liturgical choir and a gospel choir.  One or both of them leads us in worship depending on the style of worship on a given Sunday.

Q:  How do people dress?

A:  There is no "dress code".  Jeans, pants, dresses and suits are all worn and welcomed.

Q:  What about my kids?

A:  Children are encouraged to worship with their parents (a nursery is available, if needed).  A Children's Sermon is a regular part of the worship service.

Q:  Can I take communion?

A:  All are welcome to commune regardless of church or denominational affiliation or whether they are currently involved in a church or not.  Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays of the month, and also at the Wednesday evening service.

Q:  How can I get connected?

A:  The best way to meet people and get a sense of the congregation is to stay for the coffee and fellowship time following worship.  If you are in attendance at worship on a potluck lunch Sunday, you are most welcome to stay and eat.  If visitors so desire, the pastor will gladly call on or meet with them to better acquaint them with the vision and mission and ministries of the congregation.  Other good ways to get connected are to attend Adult Sunday School (8:45 am) or Wednesday Evening Bible Study following the Wednesday Evening Communion Service, or join a project or one of our community service ministries.

Q:  Where do I park?

A:  Ample parking is available on the church property.  Entrance to the parking lot is on Albania St.

Q:  What is Wednesday night service like?

          A.  Wednesday night Zoom Service begin at 7:00 PM and conclude by 7:45.  I.D. #404176812; Password: 741973
